The Deputy Inspector -General of Police representing South-west, DIG Abiodun Sylvester Alabi will tomorrow Monday begin a tour of of the Police commands in the zone starting from Lagos State.
During the week, he will proceed to other State commands after Lagos. TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that this visit to the Southwest is to assess the security situation in the zone and to ensure that the Police/Community Partnership agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun is being implemented holistically.
In this familiarization visit to Lagos Command, the DIG in charge of FCID, DIG Abiodun Alabi will meet with the AIG in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, the state commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke M. Fayoade, officers of Zone 2 and Lagos State Police Command, and community stakeholders including religious and traditional rulers.
The Police chief, DIG Abiodun Alabi is very familiar with the crime and security situation in Lagos having been former Commissioner of Police, Squadron Commander, Divisional Police Officer, DPO in Lagos state.
The disciplinarian par excellence, DIG Alabi is expected to leave for Ogun state on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in a press statement made available to TheMediaGood Newspaper by the Ogun State Police PRO, SP Omolola Odutola, DIG Alabi will arrive Ogun State on June 4, 2024.
Odutola stated, “This would be his first official inspection visit to Ogun State Police Command and an on-duty tour to the South West Commands.
“He is slated on his arrival to pay a courtesy visit on his excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, MFR, the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
“Immediately after, he will proceed to the palace of the paramount ruler and the Alake of Egba land, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on a courtesy visit. Soon after, he will return to the Command, State Headquarters Eleweran to address officers and men at the POWA hall.”
“This Duty tour presents an opportunity for the DIG to holistically address policemen on the criminal justice system, by reteirating the rules of police investigation as provided in the volumes of the laws, such as holding sway the right of every suspect in commencement of police investigations, matters relating to criminal forensic examinations techniques, proper case file handling, intelligence gathering techniques, communication techniques of representations, prosecution, and to leverage the symbiotic relationship between the police and the judicial authorities.
“Further after the address by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, supervising officers that the Area Commanders will be allowed to account for their men and give overall remarks of other matters.
“The session will end with the Deputy Inspector General of Police’s final inspection of the new office building, especially the Technical intelligence Department.
“Members of the press are welcomed to take part in this historic meeting from the moment the Commissioner of Police (CP) Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc, will receive the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the routline area of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oke-Mosan area of Abeokuta at about 1000hrs on 4th June 2024.
