
CRC Kaleson Makanto, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS2.13 Apapa Unit Command, has been named the Best Unit Commander in Lagos for the year 2025, while his Command, the Apapa Unit Command also emerged Best Unit Command at the Zonal Commanding Officer’s Merit Awards and End-of-Year Party of FRSC Zone RS2.
The prestigious ceremony, held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the FRSC RS2.0 HQ, Ojodu, Lagos, attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, senior officers, Special Marshals and stakeholders within the FRSC family and security organizations nationwide.
The awards were presented by the Chairman of the Occasion, Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) Bisi Kazeem (Rtd), who commended CRC Makanto and the Apapa Command for their exceptional leadership, operational efficiency and professionalism throughout 2025. He described the dual recognition as a reflection of sustained commitment to duty, discipline and impactful road safety interventions in one of Lagos’ busiest transport corridors.
In his remarks, DCM Kazeem urged officers and Special Marshals to remain resilient, uphold the highest ethical standards and shun acts of misconduct in the course of duty. He noted that diligence and integrity remain the backbone of the Corps’ mandate to safeguard lives on Nigerian roads.
The Chairman also paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Ann Oladayo, applauding her innovations, excellent performance and transformational leadership since assuming office in April 2025.
According to him, the success of Zone RS2 in 2025 bears clear testimony to her strategic direction and people-centred leadership style.The event, which doubled as an end-of-year thanksgiving and get-together, provided an opportunity for officers to unwind and express gratitude to God for a successful 2025 and the privilege of witnessing 2026.
Among dignitaries in attendance were DCM Abiodun Akinlade (FNSE), ACM Hammed, ACM Njoku, Lagos Sector Commander CC Kehinde Ganiyu Hazmat, Ogun Sector Commander CC Akinwunmi Fasakin, Zonal Coordinator of Special Marshals Pastor Olusegun Akintan, Director of Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) Lagos Engr. Amos Lawrence, as well as representatives of sister agencies.
Organised annually by the Zonal Command, the awards ceremony recognised personnel for outstanding performance, professionalism and dedication to duty, with the overarching goal of boosting morale, encouraging discipline and strengthening road safety operations across Lagos and Nigeria at large.
For CRC Kaleson Makanto and the Apapa Unit Command, the honours underscore a year of excellence and it sets a benchmark for service delivery within FRSC Zone RS2 in the New Year 2026.
