The Republic of Chad has conferred one of her highest honours on the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali. The award was presented by the Honorable Minister of the Armed Forces, Veterans and War Victims, Issaka Malloua Djamouss, on behalf of the President of Chad Field Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby.
The Honourable Minister stated that the award is typically reserved for a personality who has made exceptional contributions to the region’s stability. He specifically highlighted the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2, led by General Ali, which resulted in the repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons, the dismantling of key terrorist logistics bases, and the significant disruption of terrorist operations.
In his acceptance remarks, General Ali expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Chad and the Minister of Defense Chad for the esteemed recognition and honour. He said that the award will be dedicated to troops of the MNJTF for their act of valor and bravery during Operation Lake Sanity 2.
The prestigious ceremony was attended by several distinguished figures, including the Head of Mission for the MNJTF and Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), Ambassador Mamman Nuhu. Also present were Lieutenant General Ramadan Erdibou, Chief of Staff to the President of Chad, and Lieutenant General Djouma Youssouf Mahamat Itno, Commander of Sector 2 of the MNJTF.
The event was further graced by key military leaders, such as the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defence and the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, alongside other senior commanders from Chad’s armed forces.
