His continued efforts at ensuring peace, safety, community development and security nationwide across Nigeria has taken him global. This is the story of Dr. Ayo Ogunsan who today was named International Peace Advocate by the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre Foundation (UN-POLAC).
This, further, asserts the capacity and capability towards peacebuilding and societal development that the Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) cum Chairman of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in Lagos State has demonstrated over the years.
The letter of the UN-POLAC obtained by TheMediaGood Newspaper today noted about Dr. Ogunsan’s qualities, ‘the trustees of POLAC recognize that you exemplify these qualities and wish to convey you their decision to appoint you an International Peace Advocate.’
‘As an International Peace Advocate, you can be called upon for peacemaking, conflict resolution, and other activities that encourage peace and positive living in line with the best international practices’, noted Prof. Halo B. Eton, the Director General of UN-POLAC.
The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre Foundation was ‘established in 2001 and affiliated with the United Nations and UNESCO following General Assembly’s Resolution declaring 2001-2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence hence the name UN-POLAC. The foundation’s mandate aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNESCO’s culture of peace, security, and the restoration of human dignity.
Dr. Ogunsan will be conferred with the global honour on 28th September, 2024 at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. This conferment will come with prestigious benefits including: the UN-POLAC Certificate of Appointment/Award; an International Identity Card; Investiture Apparel, a Flag of Authority to be hoisted at a location of his choice; a Special Vehicle Plate Number in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
