41-year-old Zimbabwean Olympic swimming champion, Kirsty Coventry today made history as new President of the International Olympics Committee (IOC). In the elections conducted today Thursday 20th March, she emerged as the candidate with the most votes.She will succeed Thomas Bach.

With this remarkable feat, Kirsty is making new records on three counts. She is the first woman ever to hold the position, the first African ever, and the youngest person ever.
