Interswitch, one of Africa’s leading integrated payments and digital commerce companies has announced the commencement of the maiden edition of its Job Shadowing Program, signaling a steadfast dedication to nurturing emerging talent and enhancing capabilities within the continent’s tech sector. At its core, the Job Shadowing Program reflects Interswitch’s unwavering commitment to cultivating talent and fostering innovation within the African tech ecosystem. By facilitating hands-on experiences and mentorship, Interswitch aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, arming participants with the requisite skills to thrive in today’s dynamic workplace.

Scheduled to run from March to June 2024, the Job Shadowing Program will empower over 2,000 professionals through immersive training, tailored coaching, and mentorship sessions spanning diverse disciplines such as engineering, product management, operations, marketing, finance, and human resources. For three months, participants will immerse themselves in comprehensive training, gaining insights into industry best practices, emerging trends, and practical skills from Interswitch’s seasoned professionals and tech industry experts alike.

With over 16,000 applications received, the selection process rigorously sifted through candidates to identify the 2,000 successful intakes who would be further split into 20 cohorts. This immense interest underscores the high demand for developmental opportunities within Africa’s burgeoning tech sector.

Franklin Ali, Chief Human Resources Officer, Interswitch Nigeria, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We are delighted to kick off the Interswitch Job Shadowing Program, tailored to empower the next generation of African talent. Through this initiative, we aim to furnish professionals with the tools and support necessary to excel in their respective fields.”

Ali further emphasized the program’s role in fortifying the technology value chain and enhancing workforce capabilities, asserting, “Initiatives like the Interswitch Job Shadowing Program play a pivotal role in nurturing talent and empowering individuals to thrive amidst the evolving workforce landscape.”

In addition to offering immersive training and mentorship, outstanding candidates from the program will have the opportunity to interview at the upcoming Interswitch Career Fair. Successful candidates will be considered for critical positions within the company, further solidifying Interswitch’s commitment to capacity building.

The launch of the Job Shadowing Program underscores Interswitch’s substantial investment in talent development, despite the brain drain challenge rippling across the industry, thereby reaffirming its dedication to driving socio-economic growth and empowerment across the African continent.
