In a decisive move to curb road traffic crashes along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reinforced its operational oversight across Corridor 1, which is one of Nigeria’s most vulnerable highways.

Leading the charge, the Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Operations, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, acting on the directive of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, undertook a comprehensive inspection tour of Unit Commands in Mowe, Shagamu, and Oluyole. The high-level visit underscores the Corps’ renewed commitment to proactive enforcement and life-saving interventions.

During the exercise, ACM Ogungbemide conducted an on-the-spot assessment of personnel deployment, traffic control measures, and emergency response readiness. He emphasized the need for intensified patrol operations and strict adherence to established safety regulations, noting that discipline and visibility remain critical to reducing fatalities on the corridor.

Beyond operational evaluation, the visit served as a morale booster for officers and men, reaffirming leadership support and the Corps’ unwavering resolve to safeguard road users. The strategic engagement signals a strengthened approach to tackling road safety challenges and ensuring that highways remain safer for all.
