A STORY OF TRUE LOVE

Share

On November 25th 2023, I attended the wedding ceremony of a friend’s younger brother in the city of Ibadan. It was a beautiful occasion by all standards. The couple and their siblings had flown in from different parts of the globe, and it was a glorious reunion for many of us who had gathered there that day. But, much more beautiful is the story behind the union: the groom had waited for 24 years to get a “YES” from the bride.

When I first heard the story, I was like, “Walahi! Me, I can’t wait that long o! For what? ‘Nitori kini?!’ When there are other ladies out there! Fashi her o jare!” But, after the wedding, I had the opportunity to really listen to their testimony, in-depth, and I came to realize that LOVE is truly stronger than death, and many waters cannot quench LOVE, neither can the floods drown it – SOS 8:6-7.
Their union could only have happened by GOD’S Grace and Providence. Here’s the inspiring story of Steve and Ore. #Godisgood

In 1997, when Steve was just 15 years old, he started praying for his future partner. Two years later, GOD reveals to him who his wife would be. He was 17 then, and she was practically a much younger girl. In 2004, they met at a Christian Summer Camp. A long distance friendship ensued from then till 2022. Meanwhile, Steve had shared his conviction with Ore since 2015, but she kept telling him, “I don’t think so!” Along the way, the two of them tried one or two other relationships, but they just didn’t work out. In the year 2022, Steve’s mom began to intercede fervently for her son and Ore. In February 2023, Steve and Ore reopened connection, and started talking about the possibility of living as one, forever. That talk culminated in that glorious gathering of November 25th 2023. My! The bobo tried o! If Steve ever decides to open a ‘Love School’, I’ll enroll.

In the light of the Valentine celebration of today, it’s safe to say that many of the celebrants (if they can afford to buy anything for anyone in this ‘Tinubu economy’) don’t even know what Love is. I’ll thus encourage you to click on the link above to understand better what LOVE is, and stop wasting your time on Vitalis or Valentine or whatever it is you’re expending your time/resources over. Whatever you do today, remember the words of Bob Marley in the song ‘Who the Cap Fit’, “Some will hate you, pretend they love you now
Then behind they try to eliminate you
But who Jah bless, no one curse
Thank God, we’re past the worst
Hypocrites and parasites…………”

True LOVE is found only in one Man/Place – in the Man JESUS!
That’s the Man/Love to celebrate today, and always!
Selah!
