A PERPLEXING PARADOX!

PRESIDENT DIOMAYE FAYE WITH HIS TWO FIRST LADIES

Senegal just elected the youngest president ever in the history of the country, and possibly in Africa as a whole. That’s a very good thing. He was sworn in few days ago, and it was announced that his two wives would be occupying the ‘Office of First Lady’, together. Ah! That’s also the first of its kind, and it’s not a good thing. Those two wives, assuming they are the only ones he has, could very well engineer his undoing! Every married man knows how challenging it is to manage one woman at home, not to talk of managing two First Ladies! Even though Senegal is predominantly a Moslem country, and polygamy is widely accepted there, running a country with two recognized First Ladies is a recipe for trouble, in my book. May his tenure not be implosive.

The good thing to take away from his election is: CHANGE IS POSSIBLE! IT’S POSSIBLE TO FLUSH OUT THE OLD AND PROMOTE THE YOUNG, AND IT CAN HAPPEN IN NIGERIA TOO; IT CAN HAPPEN ALL OVER AFRICA. LET’S TAKE BACK OUR CONTINENT FROM OLD, DYING, MYOPIC, SELF-SERVING, COLONIAL-SERVANTS, LEADERS. If Senegal could do it, WE ALL CAN! I pray for the success of Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the 44 year old president of Senegal. May his kind (in the good sense, only) multiply all over Africa, and worldwide, in JESUS MIGHTY NAME. Nothing is impossible!
