The Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, has approved the distribution of 1,500 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration forms to eligible students across the Council area, as part of measures to promote inclusive access to higher education.

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa said the initiative is designed to support Senior Secondary School students in public and private schools, as well as qualified residents of Agege seeking admission into tertiary institutions, by easing the financial burden associated with JAMB registration.

According to him, the distribution reflects his administration’s commitment to investing in human capital development and ensuring that no willing and capable student is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to cost.

“Education remains the strongest foundation for sustainable development. By providing these JAMB forms free of charge, we are deliberately removing a key obstacle on the path of our young people,” the chairman said.

He added that the intervention aligns with the Council’s broader education-support agenda aimed at nurturing talent and preparing youths for future leadership and economic productivity. “Our responsibility as a government is to create opportunities. This initiative is about giving our students a fair chance to compete, excel and fulfil their dreams, irrespective of their background,” Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa stated.

The Agege council boss disclosed that registration is ongoing at the local government secretariat and will run until February 21, 2026. He assured that adequate arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a transparent and orderly process, while encouraging eligible candidates to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa further reiterated that his administration would continue to prioritise policies and programmes that strengthen education, empower youths and secure the future of the community. “We will not relent in opening doors for our children. When we invest in education today, we are investing in a stronger and more prosperous Agege tomorrow,” he said.

Stakeholders, including parents and education advocates in the Council area, have commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful amid prevailing economic challenges, noting that it would ease pressure on families while motivating students to pursue tertiary education.
