TRIBUTE TO SERVICE & EXCELLENCE: CELEBRATING SP ABIMBOLA ADEBISI, THE VOICE OF LAGOS POLICE COMMAND

On this special day, family, friends, colleagues, media professionals, and well-wishers across the country join the Lagos State Police Command to celebrate a Policewoman whose life and service exemplify dedication, discipline, and distinction. As SP Abimbola Adebisi marks her birthday, she stands tall as a shining example of professional excellence, commitment to duty, and effective Police–public engagement in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and West Africa’s economic hub, Lagos.

SP Abimbola Adebisi’s assumption of office as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Lagos State Command a few months ago, was not merely a change in designation; it was a strategic reinforcement of the Command’s communication architecture. Appointed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, her posting reflected confidence in her competence and capacity to manage public information in a complex, fast-paced, and highly dynamic environment like Lagos.

From the moment she assumed duty, SP Abimbola Adebisi has brought uncommon energy and professionalism to the role. In a Command as busy and expansive as Lagos State Police Command and under the leadership of the superlative CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, where policing never sleeps, she has proven to be consistently present, responsive, and reliable. Whether during early-morning briefings, late-night operations, high-level security engagements, physically tasking shows or force, or community-focused programmes, SP Adebisi remains fully engaged, reflecting a deep understanding that public trust is built through visibility, consistency, and credible communication.

Working closely with the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, SP Adebisi has become a dependable partner in projecting the Command’s vision and activities. She complements the leadership of the CP effectively, ensuring that police initiatives, security operations, and public advisories are promptly and accurately communicated. Her unwavering presence at command activities, regardless of distance or timing, demonstrates a strong work ethic and loyalty to the mission of the Force.

SP Abimbola Adebisi possesses a strong academic background which has been a major asset in her effectiveness as the Lagos Police PRO. With a BA (Ed) in English Language and Literature, a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and a Master’s degree in English Language, SP Adebisi brings intellectual depth and articulate clarity to police communications. Her messages are not only informative but measured, empathetic, and aligned with community policing values.

As an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a member of respected international policing and public relations bodies such as International Public Relations Association (IPRA), the International Association of Women Police (IAWP), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). SP Abimbola Adebisi represents the modern Nigerian Police officer who is globally aware, professionally grounded, and locally responsive.

Her professional training in child protection, human rights, psychology, conflict management, and advanced detective work has given her a holistic approach to public relations and internal coordination. She holds the Certificate in Child Protection from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra, Ghana, alongside certifications in Human Rights, Human Psychology, and Conflict Management, and has equally attended the Advanced Detective Course at the Police Staff College, Jos. This broad exposure allows her to interpret Police activities within wider social, legal, and human contexts, which is a very essential skill in today’s security landscape.

SP Adebisi’s career path reflects years of trust-based responsibilities at the highest levels of the Nigeria Police Force. Her service as Police Public Relations Liaison Officer at the SPU, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Staff Officer to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations); and as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit, speaks volumes about her reliability, discretion, and administrative strength. These experiences have shaped her into a disciplined officer who understands both operational demands and strategic communication.

This special day offers an opportunity not only to celebrate the personal journey of SP Abimbola Adebisi but also to acknowledge the impact of her service on policing in Lagos State. She has become a reassuring voice to the public, a dependable bridge to the media, and a source of pride to the Nigeria Police Force.

Happy Birthday to SP Abimbola Adebisi, an officer whose dedication continues to inspire confidence, professionalism, and progress in Lagos policing. As she adds another year, we wish her continued strength, wisdom, good health, and greater accomplishments in service to the nation.
