The national flag of Ghana

Ghana moved one of its publicly recognized holidays from Wednesday this week to today Friday.

Yes!

That public holiday is known as Constitution Day and is observed every year on the 7th of January to commemorate the coming into force of the 1992 Constitution and the birth of the Fourth Republic.

It naturally fell on Wednesday this Year 2026 but the President of the country, Pres. John Dramani Mahama issued an Executive Instrument to move the observance to today Friday, 9th January to allow for a continuous long weekend and to minimize midweek economic disruption.

I think I love the idea for the reasons cited by the President, and think it may be considered by other countries.

What do you think?

Happy Constitution Day, Ghana!
