In a landmark moment for African music, Nigerian Afrobeats music sensation, Asake etched his name in history as the first African artist to headline the Red Bull Symphonic, delivering a show-stopping performance at the iconic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York on 8th November, 2025.
The concert was a bold cultural statement as Asake reimagined his biggest hits in sweeping orchestral arrangements backed by a full orchestra led by maestro Glenn Alexander II, with arrangement support from Anthony Parnther.
Fans in the sold-out theatre were treated to a seamless fusion of Afrobeats, fújì, and amapiano with classical instrumentation as a bold testament to Asake’s artistic range and his ability to push genre boundaries.
The night also featured guest appearances from Wizkid, Gunna, Central Cee, Tiakola, and Fridayy who joined him on the stage for landmark collaborations, including a powerful orchestral rendition of “MMS.”
In a closing flourish, Asake premiered an unreleased track from his forthcoming album, “Mr. Money,” offering a glimpse into his evolving sound and future direction.
Speaking before the event, Asake expressed: ‘Classical music was influential in my childhood and love for music, and blending it with fújì, Afrobeats, and amapiano alongside a full orchestra is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m excited for what it will do for the culture, and for my fans to rediscover my music in a new light.’
More than just a concert, this Red Bull Symphonic event was a cultural bridge connecting Lagos’ rhythms with New York’s orchestral grandeur, again asserting Afrobeats on the global stage.
