Rite Foods Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to youth mentorship by partnering with Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) for the 2025 edition of the Big Sister Programme held at Majidun Senior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The initiative aims to inspire young girls with the confidence, knowledge, and resilience needed to excel in academics, careers, and personal development.

Why It Matters

The collaboration between Rite Foods and WIMBIZ underscores a growing movement toward empowering Nigerian girls through mentorship and skills development — a critical investment in gender equity and the nation’s future workforce.

Experts say that early mentorship helps young women make informed career choices and develop leadership skills, reducing gender disparities in professional spaces.

Speaking at the event, Olukemi Ogunsakin, Corporate Communications Manager at Rite Foods, urged the students to embrace resilience and adaptability in the face of life’s challenges. “At Rite Foods, we believe in supporting platforms that shape the future of our nation,” Ogunsakin said.

“By mentoring young girls on confidence, career, and entrepreneurship, we are contributing to building a generation of strong, capable, and visionary leaders.”

She added that confidence and courage are essential traits for women seeking to define their paths with purpose.

Adding her perspective, Olabisi Adebisi-Opatade, Legal Counsel at Rite Foods, encouraged the girls to choose their career paths with self-awareness and conviction.

“The courage to choose wisely comes from self-discovery,” she said. “When you know your values, embrace your strengths, and confront your weaknesses, you open the door to a career that is truly yours.”

Education advocates have praised the initiative as a timely intervention, especially in communities where girls face socio-economic barriers to achieving their ambitions.

An education consultant, Dr. Funke Adebajo, described the partnership as “a sustainable model of corporate social investment that directly impacts human capital development.”

“Mentorship is one of the most effective tools for changing the trajectory of young girls’ lives,” she said. “What Rite Foods and WIMBIZ are doing is building confidence where it’s often most needed.”

The partnership forms part of Rite Foods’ sustainability framework known as EYEC — which stands for Education, Youth Empowerment, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Development.

Under the initiative, the company recently donated school materials to over 2,000 students across Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja, reaffirming its long-term commitment to youth education and empowerment.

Both organisations have pledged to expand the mentorship initiative to more schools across Nigeria in 2026, ensuring a broader reach for young girls seeking role models and career guidance.

Social media teasers and visuals will also be shared to inspire conversations among students, parents, and educators on the importance of mentorship and empowerment.
