While discussing miracles, its veracity, belief in it or otherwise with my siblings during the day, I remarked that the mixed multitude of today are social media users.
The mixed multitude are the people who ensured that Moses, whom the Bible described as, the man of God, didn’t enter the promised land of Canaan after he successfully ushered them out of the land of bondage Egypt. Their story can be found in Exodus 12:38. Robert Young in his 1862 Literal translation of the Bible describes them as ‘a great rabble also hath gone up with them…’ (Exo. 12:38a, YLT)
It might interest you that the mixed multitude is not unaware of miracles. They have, at one time or another in their lives, experienced miracles. They may, however, deny its existence, feign its ignorance, and unabashedly tackle those who enjoy it. They are a replica of Moses’ mixed multitude who experienced the unbelievable by crossing the Red Sea, that miracle has never been replicated, but soon forgot and whined about lack of water to drink.
As a Christian who believes in miracles, and I see no reason why you shouldn’t, if you have experienced salvation, that’s the biggest miracle, be careful of the mixed multitude. Don’t take it to heart, some merely want to rile you. Don’t take it to heart even for those who query, chide, and lambaste you. When you engage as much as you can and it’s seems they would just not learn, leave quietly. Don’t let them get you into confrontation with God like they did Moses and made him miss the promised land.
