NSCDC FCT COMMANDANT, OLUSOLA ODUMOSU (R) PRESENTS CERTIFICATE TO ONE OF THE GRADUANDS

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, Olusola Odumosu, on Thursday tasked new personnel of the Corps on proper weapon handling and human rights protection. He gave the charge at the passing out parade of the 532 officers of the 2022/2023 recruits after six months of rigorous training in Abuja. The Commandant also charged the new personnel to be diligent in their duty, be professional in arms handling and to carry out all their assignments with utmost caution, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report.

In his words, Odumosu charged: ‘In NSCDC there is nothing like accidental discharge. Once you find yourself holding a weapon, rules of engagement must continually sound in your head, your rifle is as safe as you want it to be. You have been trained in weapons handling. This is one aspect of your job that you have to tread with utmost caution. Respect the fundamental human rights of all Nigerians and be guarded by our watchword humility and integrity in service delivery.’

‘Note also that, you are also expected to maintain a high level of discipline, professionalism and competence in the discharge of your duties. Your uniform and weapon must not be used to intimidate or harass any citizens’, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report.

The FCT Commandant also said the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed A. Audi spared no resources in ensuring that the graduands were properly trained therefore, to who much is given, much is expected.

He stressed that the Command under his watch has the capacity, manpower, the professional know how and the motivation and to carry out the assignment as contained in our Acts. ‘As you receive your postings to different departments, Units, Area Commands or Divisions, ensure you put in your best towards fulfilling our mandate. We must as a matter of urgency bring an end to acts of vandalism in the FCT by providing adequate security for all critical national assets and infrastructure within our jurisdiction. We must also arrest those who are sabotaging the effort of government in maintaining peace and order in the country, as well as other related crime’, Odumosu concluded.
