THE GOODNESS OF GOD! DESPISE NOT LITTLE THINGS!

Share

I had a smooth drive from Ibadan to Lagos yesterday. After work, the vehicle just stopped as I made to turn off the expressway into Ojodu road. Luckily, one of those garage boys in yellow uniforms came to help me push it to a ‘safe’ place. Surprisingly, he didn’t ask me for a dime. Calling on the nearby mechanic, we discovered that the radiator hose had somehow disconnected, and all the water in it had drained out. We filled it with water, but the car refused to start.

Long story short, I had to get a tow truck to move my car home, but, not until I’d gone looking for the guy in yellow who had helped me, and compensated him with a little change. If we REWARD GOOD DEEDS, they’ll likely be repeated, again and again. And, if we punish evil deeds, they’ll ‘towo ọmọ won baso!’ It is because Nigeria is renowned for zero consequence for wrongdoing, especially at high level, is the reason why iniquity continues to abound in the land.

Well, I saw the Goodness of GOD in how the car didn’t break down between Ibadan and my office, where getting help might have been difficult or costlier. I also saw his Goodness in the tow truck driver(s) who brought me home. I sat with the one who controlled my car, and we got talking, and it was really nice getting to know him. He told me that he hardly ever turns down a job because of the price.

The first tow truck driver I approached had asked me to pay 50K. I told him I would not pay more than 10K from Ojodu-Berger to Ogba, and walked away from him. These other guys followed me and said they would do it, that I should please add something, anything. I prefer that kind of approach. I eventually paid them 12K after our jolly ride together.

The fellow in my car told me how he had taken a 15K job to move a vehicle somewhere, and got a 45K job on his way back. He told me how they had done one or two jobs that day, and returned to meet the 50K ‘charger’ at the same spot, because he doesn’t take ‘small jobs.’ Hmmmm! Despise not small things. Bigger things, many times, are hidden in the seemingly small ones. I learnt another lesson yesterday, and met two new friends. People Skills will take you farther and higher than ‘book knowledge’ o!
