Imagine God ‘Ghosting’ You: A Painful Lesson from the Life of Moses 2

It is only God’s purpose that He cannot change, He can change the people involved.

What does that mean? Let’s use the life of Moses as example!

At the outset of their journey out of Egypt, God expressly told Moses to get the children of Israel out of Egypt into the Promised Land. Origin: Egypt, destination: Promised Land, who should lead: Moses.Express Command: “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’” – Exodus 33:1, NIV

But as things panned out in the course of the journey, the actions and inactions of the people of Israel got Moses the man of God into loggerheads with God. God wouldn’t have it. Moses prayed and prayed on this matter, but no, God has closed that chapter. God ‘ghosted’ him to use the term of the Gen. Z’s. God told him to appoint a successor, Joshua who would complete the destination angle of the glorious purpose. Origin: Egypt, destination: Promised Land, who started: Moses, who finished: Joshua. Transfer of power: “So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him…At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.” – Numbers 27:18, 21b Express Command: The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you.” – Deut. 31:23, NIV

That may not be the initial plan, but God will stick with His purpose, He can change the people. Every adult, including the leaders and the led, who exited Egypt failed to enter the Promised Land, except Joshua and Caleb.

It is only God’s purpose that He cannot change, He can change the people involved. May I fulfill His Grand Purpose for my life, may He not have a cause to change me. Amen
