In his ongoing tour of the Police Commands in the Southwest, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG representing the Southwest is urging the officers and the rank and file in the Nigeria Police to not only enforce the law but also uphold the values of justice, integrity, and service. He also stressed the importance of preserving the human rights of Nigerians.

Your hard work and commitment to duty are the pillars upon which the safety and security of our nation rest.’

He noted that there is ‘profound responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform of the Nigeria Police Force. Our role in society is not just to enforce the law but to uphold the values of justice, integrity, and service. It is essential that we remain steadfast in our commitment to these principles as we cary out our duties.’

‘Discipline is the cornerstone of any successful organization, and the police force is no rules and regulate in all aspects of exception. As officers, we must exhibit the highest standards of discipline our work. This means adhering strictly to the that government, both on and off conduct, duty. He added: ‘There is no substitute for hard work. Our profession demands it, and our nation expects it. We must approach our duties with a sense of purpose and dedication, knowing that the safety and well-being of our fellow citizens depend on our efforts. This means being vigilant, proactive, and thorough in all that we do. Hard work also entails continuous, self improvement. The challenges we face are ever evolving, and so must put Skills and knowledge. I urge you all to take advantage of training opportunities, stay informed about the latest developments in law enforcement. and always seek ways to enhance your performance.’

On Professional Conduct, he told the police officers, ‘Our behavior in the discharge of our duties must be beyond reproach. We are entrusted with significant power and responsibility, and it is imperative that we use this authority judiciously and ethically. Treat every citizen with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our duty is to protect and serve, not to intimidate or abuse. Effective communication and empathy are vital. Listen to the concerns of the people, address their needs, and work collaboratively with the communities we serve. Building positive relationships with the public fosters trust and cooperation, which are essential for effective policing.’
