At 50, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan is not merely marking a milestone, he is celebrating a journey of enterprise, service, faith, leadership and an enduring commitment to building people and institutions.
For Trek Africa Newspaper, this 50th birthday milestone is special and significant. Long before Dr. Ogunsan assumed the helm of leadership at the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), he has been a personality of interest to the media platform. As a businessman, he was reported as Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, the Chairman/CEO of Executive Group. As an education advocate, he was reported as the Advisory Board Member of Centre for Digital Humanities at University of Lagos (CEDHUL). As a security stakeholder, he was reported as the International Peace Advocate of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) and Patron of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Lagos State. As a public-spirited Nigerian, he was reported as the Chairman of AKEM Foundation and a prominent supporter of several other humanitarian organizations in which his engagements increasingly placed him at the intersection of enterprise, human development and public safety.
His emergence as Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF on 31st October 2025 by the appointment of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu brought him into an office at the centre of Lagos’ security architecture. The Fund, established by law in 2007 as a pioneering public-private partnership, exists principally to mobilise resources and provide critical logistical, operational and capacity support to security agencies across Lagos.
Since taking the reins, Ogunsan has brought to the Fund an approach that combines resource mobilisation with stakeholder engagement, operational support, professional development and preventive security. His almost 1 Year in office is replete with achievements. Under his leadership, the LSSTF has presented operational and patrol vehicles to numerous security agencies, strengthened fundraising channels, introduced an asset-monitoring mechanism, supported tertiary institutions, repaired and restored abandoned Armoured Personnel Carriers and promoted continuous professional development for security personnel through statewide inter-agency training.
For Ogunsan, his staunch advocacy for safer schools and insistence that Lagos children must remain at the heart of security operations has led to championing preventive interventions through the LSSTF Campaign Against Crime, Cultism and Other Vices (LSSTF-CACCOV), his unflagging support for the tactical units of Nigeria Police, NSCDC, and other agencies saddled with the responsibility for school safety. His current work has equally taken security beyond the conventional land-based conversation. From strengthening support for the military and other frontline agencies to drawing attention to maritime security and economic sabotage on Lagos waterways, Ogunsan has consistently advocated a security architecture built around collaboration and preparedness. His appointment to the Civilian Oversight Board of the Lagos Police Command’s Violent Crimes Response Unit further reflects the growing confidence placed in his experience and contribution to public safety.
Yet, for those who have followed his story beyond the official position, there is more to Ogunsan than the title of LSSTF ES/CEO. He is an education advocate and mentor who has consistently placed human capital at the centre of national development. He is involved in mentorship initiatives such as the Young Executive Forum where he focuses on developing emerging professionals. From our years of reporting his journey to witnessing his present assignment at the LSSTF, one thing remains clear: Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan has spent much of his life not merely building a name, but building people, partnerships and platforms capable of outliving him.
Today, as he marks his golden jubilee, Trek Africa joins family, friends, colleagues, associates and the wider community in celebrating a man whose public profile has continued to evolve without losing the humility that has become one of the most recognisable features of his personality.
At 50, we celebrate not simply the years behind but the possibilities ahead of Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan. We celebrate a man whose journey continues to demonstrate that leadership can be firm without being abrasive, influential without being arrogant, and accomplished without abandoning humility. We wish him many more years of wisdom, strength, sound health, impactful service and greater accomplishments.Happy 50th Birthday, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan.
