Dr David Gibbs told the story of how his father collapsed in the doctor’s office; after he was revived, and tests had been carried out, the doctor said to him, “Sir, we’ll have to carry out a delicate operation on your heart. It’s risky and could go either way.”
Gibbs Sr answered the doctor, “You can’t lose, doc! If I wake up on the other side, I’ll be with my wife and son and Lord. And, if I wake up on your table, I’ll be with my son and family here that love me. You can’t lose! But, doctor, it worries me to think about you, when it’s your time to die. Would you be ready?”
The doctor was amazed by those words and the confidence with which they had been uttered. He said, “In all the years I’ve practised medicine, I never heard anything like that before.”
According to the son, “That operation was successful, but when my father eventually died, many doctors and nurses from that hospital attended his burial. One said to me, “We want what your father had.”
Would anyone want what you have?!”
Two takeaways from this story:
1. Would anyone want what you have? Are you a GOOD REPRESENTATIVE/DISCIPLE of CHRIST? Be a living witness.
2. If you truly have JESUS CHRIST in your life, YOU CAN’T LOSE! Whether you live or die, you are ETERNALLY SECURE! You either have CHRIST or you’re in crises!
