I haven’t left the office late in recent weeks but today I did. It was a Friday and Lagos generally is notorious for having heavy traffic, especially in the evenings.
By the time I got to our favorite black box, the architectural masterpiece crafted by Tosin Oshinowo, the Maryland Mall, I noticed that the big screen wasn’t lit.
Why is this beautiful big screen off? What could have happened? Its showcase often lit that stretch of Ikorodu road with colors and made you forget you are driving in the night.
Then I recalled that I had read a piece some months ago from a Nigerian journalist, who is now based abroad, traveled home and visited the place to narrate some anomalies in the popular place.
Could that be it? Could it mean that his complaints are now becoming an open sore? I couldn’t be the only one who observed that the big screen is not powered.
