The Oyo State Government, through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), has commenced the distribution of subsidized food commodities to interested workers in the State as part of efforts to cushion the economic challenges ahead of the Eid-l-Kabir celebration.

Speaking during the unveiling of the distribution exercise held at the Corporation’s premises in Ibadan, the Chairman of the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), Sheikh Akeugberu Akeugbagold, said the initiative was aimed at supporting workers and ensuring they celebrate the festive season with ease.

The Chairman, who spoke through the Coordinating Head of the Corporation, Mr. Tunde Oladejo, disclosed that over ₦120 million was expended on the procurement of the commodities, noting that the gesture formed part of the welfare-driven programmes of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde geared towards improving the wellbeing of workers in the State.

He explained that the commodities distributed include rice, Kings vegetable oil and rams, all made available at subsidized rates to interested workers across the State.

Sheikh Akeugberu Akeugbagold added that beneficiaries of the commodities would repay the cost through deductions spread across three months, commencing from their July 2026 salaries.

According to him, the initiative underscores the commitment of the present administration to workers’ welfare and food accessibility, especially during festive periods.

Sheikh further urged beneficiaries to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the State Government, assuring that the administration would continue to implement people-oriented initiatives for the benefit of residents.
