As Lagos continues to grow as Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and West Africa’s economic hub, the demand for stronger security infrastructure, rapid response capability and improved operational readiness has become increasingly imperative. Sustaining peace, stability, and public confidence will require continuous investment in the welfare, mobility and protection of frontline personnel.
It is against this backdrop that the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, today Friday 15th May, presented operational vehicles to the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit of the Lagos State Police Command. Also presented are bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets. The operational vehicles and equipment are expected to enhance efficiency, preparedness, and coordinated response across the state.

The security equipment and response vehicles were formally received by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, during a presentation ceremony attended by senior police officers and other security stakeholders.
The Violent Crime Response Unit, recently launched by IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, was established to strengthen rapid operational deployment and improve coordinated response capacity in all 36 states and FCT Abuja.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to continually providing operational support, logistics and protective equipment required to enhance policing efficiency and personnel safety across the state.
He noted that effective security management requires sustained collaboration between government institutions and security agencies, stressing that Lagos must remain proactive in equipping frontline personnel with modern tools needed to effectively discharge their responsibilities.

In his remarks, CP Tijani commended the LSSTF for its consistent partnership and strategic interventions, describing the donation as impactful. It will strengthen operational readiness, mobility and personnel protection within the Lagos State Police Command.
