It takes a large heart to get things done in life. With it, one can bear with a lot of challenges, concerns, and worries that will naturally tear down many relationships. Without it, one may be bereft of initiatives to sustain greatness. Samson Oki has a large heart. By large heart, I do not mean healthwise, never that’s not going to happen, but Bible-wise as 1 Kings 4:29 records that God gave Solomon “wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart.” (NKJV)
I have been privileged to work with and serve our community with my brother, Samson Oki for over a decade and counting. I can assert: my brother, Samson Oki has a large heart.
Among many, let me recall one particular instance in which we had done a thorough job of gathering and polishing many young ladies for a security beauty contest. The grand prize was to celebrate the top winners with a special, all-expense-paid trip to Liberia, courtesy the grand sponsorship of the Government of Liberia.

How one of our special guests at the grand finale cornered us to claim that he is one of the organizers, in fact that we have executed the project under the initiative of his political office, still beats me.
This is how our jolly good special guest traveled to Liberia with our beauty queens. Thankfully, while we were here, our beauty queens did give a good account of our investment of time, skill, and resources before the top echelon of the Liberian government.
What would you do, get emotional, get angry, and vow to never have anything to do with such a person. It is such a painful experience. It cuts deep. Your feelings and decisions are valid.
However, you will agree with me that it takes a large heart to still maintain any form of relationship – collaboration, association, friendship, whatever you may call it – with such a person. But that’s exactly what Samson has.

He will tell me, I don’t throw anyone away, they may not be useful today but be useful tomorrow, well except they make the decision to leave by themselves. That’s the manner of man that Samson is. A large heart is given by God but it should also be cultivated.
On this birthday, I wish my brother, friend, and ally, wholeness of health, great insights and wisdom, and of course, deep pocket to continue to serve our community, country, and the world at large. I pray that every crooked road will be made straight!
Happy birthday, great man!
