The Governor of Lagos State, Gov.Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Victoria Egunjobi as the new Executive Secretary of the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), signaling a strategic push to tighten healthcare regulation and elevate service standards across Lagos.

The appointment, confirmed in an official letter dated April 10, 2026, was signed by Bode Agoro on behalf of the Governor and will take effect from April 13, 2026.
Describing the decision as a critical step toward strengthening oversight in the health sector, the government emphasized the need for renewed efficiency and accountability in monitoring and accrediting health facilities statewide.
The Head of Service charged Dr. Egunjobi with a clear mandate: to justify the trust placed in her through unwavering dedication, diligence, and selfless service. Her appointment comes at a time when Lagos continues to intensify efforts to safeguard public health and ensure that medical institutions meet the highest standards of care.
With this move, the state government is reinforcing its commitment to a more robust, responsive, and quality-driven healthcare system.
Dr. Egunjobi, a seasoned Public Health Physician, brings over two decades of experience in the Lagos State Public Service, with expertise spanning data management, malaria control, maternal and child health, family planning, and gender-based violence, with a strong focus on health systems strengthening.
Until her appointment, she served as Director of Disease Control at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, where she coordinated interventions on both communicable and non-communicable diseases, contributing significantly to public health outcomes across the State.
Over the years, she has held several strategic positions within the Ministry, including Health Management Information System Officer, Knowledge Management Focal Person, Secretary of the Health Research Committee, Verification Officer for the State’s Births and Deaths Registry, and Medical Officer in the Planning Division. She also served as Reproductive Health Coordinator, overseeing key programmes such as Safe Motherhood, Family Planning, and response mechanisms for sexual and gender-based violence.
Dr. Egunjobi is an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where she obtained degrees in Physiology, Medicine and Surgery, and a Master’s in Public Health. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen, and is a member of the West African College of Physicians as well as an associate member of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
