The pioneer Chairman of the AKEM Foundation, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan was full of tributes for his late dad, Engr. Reminiscing on his dad, late Engr. Akinola Ogunsan, ‘My father would tell me, forget every other thing, just focus on your education, you will succeed. He joined the military early, Nigerian Air Force specifically where he had passion for avionics and engineering. He then joined Nigerian Airways where he was a flight engineer, then duty engineer and one more position before he died. He will tell you to pay attention to what you have at the moment, other things will take care of themselves.’
‘Even in death, I still hear him ‘boy, don’t try it’ when I want to make some decisions. l met the Lord at 14 and I told him I have met someone who will make parenting easy for him. My dad reluctantly accepted with a condition that I must have distinction in all my papers at JSS3. When I came back with distinctions, he told my 3 siblings to follow me to church and said ‘try his God’. Since that time, God has not failed me’, TheMediaGood Newspaper gathered.
The Chairman of Executive Group, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan continued: ‘The part two of the assignment is that I told him to give his life to Jesus Christ which he didn’t accept until 2006, a day after my marriage when he reluctantly agreed to come to church for my thanksgiving. He had a bad experience of church during the civil war when he saw charms on the pulpit in a church where they hid. When he came to church, he told me so this is what you have been enjoying all these years. He accepted Christ and lived for Him till death. I am sure he is with the Lord.’
About his mother, late Madam Emiola Ogunsan, the revered gentleman said: ‘I celebrate my mother greatly. My mother is also a great trader who impacted my life immensely.’
