The Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, today Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining and advancing security architecture in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The visit, held at the Lagos House, marked CP Tijani’s formal engagement with the state’s chief executive since assuming office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police in Lagos. He was accompanied by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his remarks, welcomed the new Police chief and commended his professional pedigree. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for security agencies, noting that Lagos would continue to invest in innovative solutions and institutional partnerships to strengthen public safety.

Speaking during the meeting, CP Tijani outlined a forward-looking policing strategy anchored on intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and the integration of technology to combat emerging security threats. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between the Government, Police, private sector stakeholders, and citizenry to preserve Lagos’ status as a safe and investment-friendly megacity.

Dr. Ogunsan, whose presence underscored the critical role of the LSSTF in security financing, expressed confidence in CP Tijani’s leadership. He pledged continued institutional backing, highlighting the importance of synergy in translating strategy into measurable outcomes.

The meeting signals a renewed alignment between the police leadership and the Lagos State Government, setting the tone for enhanced coordination in tackling security challenges across the state.

CP Tijani Fatai hails from Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State. He attended Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege between 1979 and 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree in Philosophy from Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 10 June 1994.

Until his recent posting, he served as: Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port, Port Harcourt; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Department of Operations, Maritime FHQ Annex Lagos and Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja; Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Finance & Administration, Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos, Area Commander Ilaro, Ogun State, Maiduguri Metro, Borno State, Area C, Surulere, Lagos State, Squadron Commander 5 PMF, Benin, Edo State and 17PMF Akure; Officer-in-Charge, Homicide Section, SCID, Lagos; Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ogere, Ogun State, Ijanikin and Alakara, Lagos State. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

His track record of leadership, professionalism, and dedication to duty underscores his preparedness to steer the affairs of the Lagos State Police Command effectively.
