
The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, today welcomed the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai to the Lagos State Police Command, with a charge to raise the bar in safeguarding Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and West Africa’s economic hub, Lagos.
Ogunsan, who spoke on behalf of the Lagos State Government, described the appointment as both strategic and timely, noting that Lagos demands proactive, intelligence-driven, and community-focused policing. He urged the new police boss to “step up the game” in sustaining and improving the security architecture that has kept the state increasingly stable amid evolving threats.
‘Lagos State already set a benchmark for security for which you are well aware because you have been part of the security architecture on various levels. You already know that there are high expectations for you to deliver. The government and people of Lagos State wants you to further enhance policing standards in line with global best practices. Step up the game’, he charged CP Tijani Fatai.
Assuring him of the continued support of the LSSTF, Ogunsan reiterated the agency’s commitment to providing critical logistics, operational support, and capacity-building initiatives for security agencies in the state. He emphasized that collaboration between law enforcement agencies and support institutions remains vital in tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
While welcoming the new Commissioner, Dr. Ogunsan also paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Police chief, AIG Olohundare Jimoh for his dedication and service while on the saddle at Lagos Command.
He commended his efforts in strengthening security operations and maintaining law and order across Lagos. He specially thanked him for his Eko Strike Force idea and the ongoing construction works at the Lagos Command Conference Centre.

CP Tijani Fatai enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 10 June 1994. Until his recent posting, he served as: Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port, Port Harcourt; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Department of Operations, Maritime FHQ Annex Lagos and Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja; Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Finance & Administration, Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos, Area Commander Ilaro, Ogun State, Maiduguri Metro, Borno State, Area C, Surulere, Lagos State, Squadron Commander 5 PMF, Benin, Edo State and 17PMF Akure; Officer-in-Charge, Homicide Section, SCID, Lagos; Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ogere, Ogun State, Ijanikin and Alakara, Lagos State. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
