Since February 2025, when he assumed office as Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Olohundare Jimoh has put in place various crime prevention strategies, operations modalities, and tactics which have improved internal safety and security in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, Lagos. He vowed not to rest on his oars to ensure law-abiding citizens go about their daily activities without fear in the state.

Moving forward, ‘the Command will continue to enhance crime surveillance, strengthening our intelligence throughout the state, tightening our intelligence networks, and embark on technologies tools to detect, deter, and dismantle all forms of crimes and criminalities’, Jimoh said.

CP Olohundare Jimoh made the remarks at the press briefing which was held yesterday at the Command HQ, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

He also reeled out some of his achievements which includes reduced crime response time to about 5 minutes and the creation of anti-cultism squad in all 14 area commands of state ‘to stem the tide and reduce to the barest cult-related violence and insecurity across the state.’

He also announced the arrest of prime suspects involved in various crimes, recoveries of exotic cars worth over 450 million naira, and recoveries of sophisticated firearms and weapons.

In light of the impressive car recoveries, the CP pleaded with individuals with a proof of ownership to come forward to identify theirs. ‘The Command hereby wishes to call members of the public who have reported their vehicles missing or stolen to come forward to the Command Headquarters with proof of ownership to identify and claim their vehicles. This huge recovery operation represents a significant milestone in our continuous drive to make Lagos a hotbed for criminal syndicates.’

The Lagos CP appreciated the IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun ‘for providing the Lagos State Police Command with state of the artcrime combating equipment, technology and other logistics leading to this success stories’ and the Lagos State Government under leadership of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu that ‘have made the job of securing Lagos State much more easier and have further reduce our response time to distresscall to around five (5) minutes’ while also commending all publicspirited individuals and Lagosians generally ‘whose timely information and credible intelligence has led to the success for the Command.’

CP Jimoh heartily appreciated all the police officers that participated in the Speed, Silence and Surprise operations of the Command and encouraged them to ‘keep up the good work and continue to increase the trust, confidence that the Lagos State Government and the good people of Lagos State has continually reposed in the Police in the state.’

On the arrests, he hinted that a major suspect, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso linked to some murder cases was arrested by the Command on June 20, 2025. Other 23 suspects mostly arrested for cult-related activities are at various stages including being charged to court and under investigation.

On the car recoveries, the CP said that: ‘These vehicles were recovered in the various parts of Lagos State and are connected to the following offenses such as Fraudulent acts and advance fee fraud, Vehicles snatched at gunpoint in other states, Cars stolen from abroad and smuggled into Nigeria, vehicles criminally diverted by drivers entrusted with them.’

Weapons recovered from suspects linked to violent crimes including armed robbery, cultism, and murder crimes include high-caliber assault rifles, Locally fabricated firearms, Live ammunition, and other dangerous weapons used by criminal elements.

While expressing his gratitude to Lagosians, he requested their ‘continued support, vigilance, and collaboration. Your role in volunteering credible information is important to our success in crime fighting.’
