‘TELL YOUR ROUGH ROAD STORIES TOO’ – EKEOMA URGES CELEBS TO ENCOURAGE YOUTHS

There is undoubtedly a craze for money and fame among the youthful generation today, nationally and globally. This is fuelled by moral decadence in society and supported by unrealistic show-offs and make-believes on social media. It is common for many celebrities to post pictures of their victories but not their pains, their successes but not their mistakes.

This narrative is what successful entrepreneur and philanthropist, Barr. Ngozi Ekeoma wants media influencers and celebrities to correct citing that there cannot be gains without pains. She worried: ‘A lot of people show off when they have made it on social media, on Instagram, but they don’t show how they struggle to get to where they are. So when somebody sees me today, the person will say, oh, she made it, I want to be like this person. But you wouldn’t understand that. This same person that you’re seeing has been through the rough road. We don’t show those pictures of the rough road.’

The Managing Director of Nepal Oil and Gas Services, a downstream petroleum conglomerate with vast interests in Nigeria and overseas, Barr. Ekeoma urged: ‘I think that we have to start telling the story of our rough road, and I’m charging all the Instagram celebrities to sometimes show the story of the rough road, how you got here, so that people can understand that there was a wilderness before the glory, so that the young people can understand that nothing is given, everything is earned.”

This has led to a very complicated situation that we have in our country today, which is people thinking that by doing money rituals, they will make quick money, or by doing kidnapping, they will make quick money. So what kind of money are you making when you kidnap someone, you take the money to start with, you’re putting your life at risk, because you can be caught and you die. And then the money, you have to share it with so many people, so at the end of the day, you don’t have anything, so you need to go and do another kidnapping again. Of course, you don’t know if you’re going to die in that one. Then you now have to do a lot of rituals.”

You don’t know what the repercussions of all those rituals that you’re doing to protect yourself, so you don’t get killed in the process. So you will now find that it’s more work to make money in the wrong way. It’s better that you make money in the right way, which is hard work, consistency, having integrity, and keep pushing.”The person that is asking you to bring your father and bring your mother to make money through money rituals has a wife, has a father. Why is it that the Juju man is not rich?’, she queried.
