Today Sunday 7th of April 2024, the Head of State of Rwanda, President Paul Kagame and wife, Jeannette Kagame lit the Kwibuka (the flame of hope) at the memorial of the 30th anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi which happened in April 1994.
TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that the Rwandan leader was joined at the BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda by more than 30 global leaders and representatives of international bodies. They include the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, former US President, Bill Clinton, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed and his wife among other leaders in attendance.
The global leaders also laid wreath and paid tribute to the more than 250,000 people who were laid to rest at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Well over 1 million people were killed in cold blood during the pogrom which started exactly 30 years ago on 7th April 1994 and lasted about 100 days in the same year.
