The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has applauded the Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to strengthening security operations across the state, especially with the donation of 100 new operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies.
The commendation came at the IGP’s special visit to the Lagos House, Marina, Lagos where he met the Governor, the Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan among other top officials of the Lagos State Government. This followed the Governor’s announcement during the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the vehicles, jointly procured by the Lagos State Government and Conference 57, demonstrate his administration’s renewed dedication to protecting lives, property, and critical investments in Lagos. He stressed that effective security requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration between government, security agencies, private sector partners, and the citizenry.
The Governor reaffirmed that the gesture aligns with the Security and Governance pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, noting that Lagos remains committed to complementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national security reforms with state-level innovations.
IGP Egbetokun praised the Lagos State Government and LSSTF for consistently serving as a national model in subnational security support. He acknowledged that the new patrol vehicles and other interventions will significantly enhance response time, operational mobility, and policing capacity across the state, especially ahead of the high-traffic festive season.
The Town Hall Meeting with the theme “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships” brought together national and state leaders, security chiefs, captains of industry, and traditional rulers to evaluate progress and strengthen security collaborations.
