Honorary United States Secret Service officer
A boy’s dream to become a Police officer in the United States frittered away when cancer struck his brain and spine aged 6. Now 13, Devarjaye ‘DJ’ Daniel is living his dream despite living through 13 surgeries to his brain.
On 4th March 2025, President Donald J. Trump recognized the boy as an honorary United States Secret Service Police officer when he announced the decision in his Joint Address to the Congress. ‘And tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service,’ Pres. Trump declared.
Since the presidential announcement in March, D. J. is gliding. He hinted ‘on my 13th brain surgery, God gave me my wings’. Same March, Gov. Sarah Sanders of Arkansas swore him in as a State Trooper. Also, the Arkansas State Capitol Police named him an honorary chief.
In April, DJ was sworn in simultaneously by 203 departments in St Louis, Missouri. So far, Devarjaye ‘DJ’ Daniel has been sworn in by more than 900 law enforcement agencies across the United States.
DJ says ‘After I reach 1,000, I’m just going to keep going. Like I always say, I’m going to keep on going until my gas tank runs out.’
‘If you got cancer, don’t give up on life. All you got to do is pray, believe in God, and just keep that negative energy out of your mind’, concluded the young DJ whose unflinching belief in God continues to inspire many across the US and worldwide.
